Endocannabinoids and Stem Cells
When you hear the term “herbal blend,” you may think many different things. Essentially, herbal blends or herbal incense are simply herb that has been infused with a cannabinoid. Because of the many health advantages of natural cannabis, researchers have put plenty of time and effort into studies with “cannabinoids” (the legal counterpart to cannabis) and it appears that many of those studies are beginning to produce promising results.
An article published in the Blood journal details cannabinoids and their effects in the presence of stem cells. Experiments with both human and mouse stem cells show that cannabinoids very well may be able to advance stem cell growth. Bone marrow and stem cells naturally make what are known as “endocannabinoids” and so the prevailing hypothesis is that more powerful cannabinoids will aid in the development and production of more stem cells. This provides injured body tissue with more stem cells, which allows for a faster healing process. Soon, we may see the same cannabinoids found in herbal blends being used in many forms of therapy.
